Hey my name is Kim and my son was 3 years old and has died from streptococcus pneumona. I was not told this is what it was until he was put into ICU with pneumona.I took him to the doctor because of his fever, it was 104 and then it was brought down to 102.8. The doctor said he just had the flu and sent him home with 102.7 fever and told me to give him motrion. so I did what I was told 2 days later I noticed he didn't get any better and noone else in the home was getting the flu. I called the doctor back and he refused to give an antibotic. The following night he started making grunting noises so I took him back to the ER and the they done and xray and took blood, they said he just had pneumona in his left lung. They then sent him to the childrens hospital. He spent one night on the 4th floor the next morning the put him in ICU and said he had streptococcus pneumnona and his body was shutting down and his blood was posioned. My son died 3 days later. I don't understand the doctor told me it was just a flu bug and refused antibotics. PLEASE if anyone can really explain this to me PLEASE contact me. Why and How this could happen with all that we have today.I don't understand why I lost my little boy to this. He was just 3 years old. I kept him away from anyone that was sick and didn't take him in public in fear he would get sick. I feel like I'm losing my mind.How could this happen????????????
