We know that God's promises are true, for it is written,

"Indeed, let God be true and every man a liar." (Ro 3:4a) and, "For the gifts and callings of God are irrevocable." (Ro 11:29)

Contextually, both of these references are referring to all that the LORD has spoken through His prophets concerning ALL Israel.

Jew[edit]

It is important to understand (as the previous article hinted at) that one can not lable all decendants of Jacob as Jewish. The term "Jew," is a name derived from Israel's fourth born son, Judah, which has its first apearance in the book of 2 Kings 25:22: after the land of Judah was conquered and carried away captive by Nebuchadnezzar. Chronologically, the next use of, "Jew," is in Esther. Esther recounts the story of the Israelites which DID NOT RETURN TO THE LAND of Israel after 70 years of captivity in Babylon. Those Israelites which were carried away captive to Babylon were primarily composed of three tribes: Judah, Benjamin, and 1/2 the tribe of Levi. The Israelites who did return to the land of Israel after the 70 years of captivity, applied this term to themselves, demonstrating that the proper noun, "Jew," originated as a result of the Babylonian captivity refering to this specific sub group Israelites. Therefore, the term properly used (ancient and modern) describes the small remnant of Judah, Benjamin, and Levi as a result of the Babylonian captivity. Other terms which the Bible uses to describe this group are the House of Judah and Judean. (more commentary forthcoming)
