Based on[edit]

From the article:

The Village was based on British wartime internment camps where they held people with sensitive information. It was primarily based on the camp at Invelair Lodge in Scotland.

Fictional location[edit]

In one of the episodes where No.6 returns to London, he returns to assist British authorities in an aerial search for The Village, yet I seem to remember them using a map which appeared to depict the Argentinian coastline when doing that search. I'd be interested to know all the different theories to the village's fictional location though. Ojw 01:53, 30 Jan 2005 (UTC)

What would prevent multiple identical Villages? It was established that #6 was moved to the Village while drugged. Why couldn't the controllers move one or more from one Village to another at their whim? wcf Facts are stubborn. Comments? 04:30, 15 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This is incorrect, the map they used and the radius to find The Village was centered around Europe and spanned to North Africa, the Atlantic, and some of the Middle East.

That does not preclude other Villages. It just means the map was derived from navigation he made from the Village he escaped from. What does preclude other Villages is that presumably the Prisoner makes acquaintances in the Village, and they would all have to be moved with him or he would mention them missing from a new Village. Living in harmony[edit]

Maybe I need to watch it again but I thought Living In Harmony was a its-all-a-dream/drug-induced-hallucination kind of episode, so construction of an entire Westworld set near the Village would not necessarily be necessary! Bakewell (talk) 22:43, 2 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Citations & organization[edit]

This article could do with some citations, as it is almost entirely unreferenced.

Could also do with being organized differently. Would be good to have subheadings for different locations in the village. I may add to it myself in the future. David L Rattigan 13:07, 18 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Revisions[edit]

There was too much unsourced speculation in the article so I have revised it. The series never confirmed it was an island, so to say it was is incorrect. I removed the allegory section completely as it needs to be done with sources. In one of the episodes you can see from a plane that the Village is indeed on an island. You don't need sources for this fact other than The Prisoner itself.

"The Village"[edit]

There is a need to come to a concensus on whether to use "The Village" or "the Village". There is a discussion on Talk:The Prisoner already, so I think that it should be discussed there. Missing the point[edit]

The missile[edit]

From "Fate: "When last seen in the final episode, "Fall Out", the residents of the Village are evacuated by helicopter after Number Six primes a missile (located within a silo beneath the Village) to launch. The episode and the series never reveal what happens to the Village or its people after Number Six finally escapes."
