Riddick is NOT the only surviving Furyan - the Purifier is also from Furya.

ALSO...has anyone seen dark fury? was one of the statues of the "frozen" people a furyan? i thought there was a sign that said that. wouldn't that mean that there are three furyans? riddick, the guy working for the necromongers, and the poor statue guy (who is alive)?

should that be included in the entry?

While I loved the film (essentially a cross between Flash Gordon and Conan the Barbarian, what's not to like?) it was pretty ridiculous that the High Marshal, knowing he would be killed by a Furyan - had one as his Purifier. That probably the most stupid plot development in the whole movie.

- I always thought that the Lord Marshalnever knew his Purifier was a Furyan.

- - I also was under the impression that the Lord Marshal never had any idea that his Purifier was a Furyan. Fact that's exactly what it is. Remember when the Lord Marshall orderd he's lackies to kill "The riddick" and the Purifier released Riddick from that awesome magnetic like structure he was bound to, during the psychic's evaluation of him. Which in turn, causes his escape. I'd say this is concrete evidence to support the fact that the Lord Marshall has little to no idea of his Purifiers distinctive heritage.

For the record I think the acctual myth goes that Riddick is the only KNOWN survivor of the masacre of Furyia. The fact is; is that the writings just haven't spoke throughly of other Furyian survivors, and if it has they've been cast-off characters that hold no great relivance to the story. But don't kid yourself, it's better that way.

Eyes[edit]

"In the movie Pitch Black and in the game The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay, Riddick says that his eyes (he can see in the dark and needs pitch black goggles to see in plain light) were implanted on a prison planet, but the novelization claims that they are natural. He may have been trying to hide his past."

The second sentence seems to suggest that there is no continuity problem here, but there's factual mistake in the first sentence. In Escape from Butcher Bay, Riddick doesn't say that his eyes were implanted, but rather they are actually implanted during the course of the game. I'll change the article to reflect this. Fixed this "eye implant" nonsense. Nowhere in the movie did he ever say his eyes were implanted. He just says his eyes' appearance were the result of a "surgical shine job," whatever that is.--Koji 07:59, 30 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Look...in The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay, like WookMuff said, it just sort of happens. Pope Joe, the present doctor who stitched up Riddick's arm, didn't implant jack shit. Like i just said, Pope Joe merely stitched up Riddick's gashed arm. Shirah even states she "is giving him a gift," the gift being Riddick's Eyeshine. Pope Joe doesn't even realize what's goin' on until Riddick grabs him by the throat and demands to know what he did. Pope Joe looks at Riddick's eyes in amazement before Riddick treks on through the tunnel to Narc-Land, or the guards' quarters in Butcher Bay, and if you dont know about jack shit i just said, perhaps you should do research before you make predictions. "The" Alpha Furyan[edit]

In the extra features of the DVD, it states that Riddick becomes "THE Alpha Furyan," which appears to be a title of sorts, but I've been seeing it used as if any Furyan can become an Alpha. Someone clear this up. BishopTutu 03:44, 21 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, but what im askin is if its a title, like being the leader and "chief" of the Furyans or something. Thats what i interpret it as, but i want to know if its used differently in the novelization. If not, then its more than likely a simple title. BishopTutu 19:33, 23 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

why its not mentioned in the article that they are genetic offshoots from humanity

In the novelization, the Purifier says to Riddick: "You're not just a Furyan, Riddick, You're an alpha Furyan". That statment shows that Riddick is not "The" alpha Furyan, but "An" alpha Furyan, implying that there can be more than one alpha. 151.203.184.11 04:36, 6 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
