Font name[edit]

For some reason, Adobe didn't simply name the font 'Myriad' in its font menu listing; the original Type 1 version was known as 'Myriad Roman', while the newer OpenType version included with Acrobat 7 is 'Myriad Pro'. I've changed the font sample to use both of those as alternate font names. Kar-ma 08:31, 9 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Myriad and similar faces[edit]

I have checked 7 books on contemporary types, all have at least minimal mention of Myriad, and 3 have substnatial information. None mention any sort of connection with, and surely no suggstion of plagiarism by Twombly or Slimbach. A google search for the two words produces the previous Wiki article, and other answer search engines sourcing the Wiki article. It also leads us to http://typophile.com/node/28518 which suggests an interview with Frutiger indicts Slimbach in regards to his deisgn for Myriad, but the link to the interview does not deliver any damaging indictment of Slimbach (or Twombly, only some praise).

This seems evidence of this being 1) POV; or; 2) possibly personal thought that might be bonafide new research, but as Wiki does not present new research as yet unpublished I don't beleive it belongs here. Can the author provide citation? If so, please do, and restore. I see some similarites, but I would count them to be considerably less than say a comparison of Helvetica and Univers, or FF Scala and Joanna. CApitol3 21:56, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

the iPod 5.5G now actually uses Myriad Pro[edit]

When scrolling through a menu - the letter of the alphabet that your up to shows up in myriad pro in front of a grey bezel... Should this be updated —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 60.240.46.149 (talk) 08:29, 9 January 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Apple iPod SVG image shows up empty[edit]

Towards the bottom of the article there is an image that's supposed to show the text "iPod" in the Myriad font to demonstrate that Apple uses Myriad in its marketing materials. This shows up as a plain white image in Firefox 2 on Windows. It looks like the source image was an SVG, but it was either manually or automatically converted to PNG. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by MichaelWard (talkcontribs) 01:43, 23 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Bias[edit]

The second paragraph is simply an endorsement of humanist sans-serif fonts. This does not belong here, and is biased anywhere. 71.240.241.125 21:53, 26 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A Frutiger Clone[edit]

This article seems very unusual in two ways. Firstly, it does not once mention Frutiger, the typeface that Myriad is heavily drawn from, if not directly cloned from. Secondly, the body reads like advertising by Adobe, with an un-encyclopaedic tone that sounds like it's been directly copied from an Adobe pitch. I do not trust the information contained in this article. 78.86.149.141 21:36, 30 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You perhaps should not trust unverified comparisons between the two. There is no evidence that Myriad was deliberately based on Frutiger and to claim this without an authoritative source, is at best "original research" and at worst libellous. Halsteadk (talk) 15:52, 22 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Reader inclusion[edit]

This article says that Myriad Pro is included in Adobe Reader 7 and later but Adobe Reader 9 does not include it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.202.89.125 (talk) 23:11, 18 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It's hidden inside the app files for internal use. You don't officially get a license to use it. Blythwood (talk) 18:45, 29 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

No use of Myriad's unique character's in font sample[edit]

In the font sample, the word: "Calendula" uses neither the y nor the k, which are defining features of the font. A different word should be used. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 116.49.156.162 (talk) 14:30, 22 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. Not sure about the "k", but the "y" is an important character (ie distinctive and common) to distinguish this font from other similar ones. Halsteadk (talk) 15:49, 22 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The introduction paragraph also mentions a "slanting e cut", which isn't currently featured. Also I'm not 100% sure what it refers to... not having a Mac I'm reduced to looking at screengrabs of the dumped character set, and all the straight lines on the "e" and "E" seem to be dead straight and horizontal... 193.63.174.11 (talk) 10:50, 4 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This is a reference to the termination of the curved stroke at lower right in the "e" which is at a fairly oblique angle, maybe 30 or 45 degrees. Thomas Phinney (talk) 16:00, 5 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Disputing Apple bundling Myriad Set Pro with iOS and OS X[edit]

I have OS X Yosemite (10.10) and iOS 8 and cannot find the font. Does anyone see it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by At2000 (talkcontribs) 00:51, 5 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It's nonsense. What probably started this is that Adobe Reader does contain a copy of Myriad for internal use, but it shouldn't be installed on the main list of fonts and you don't officially get a license to use it anyway. This is a myth on a par with OS X containing a secret bitcoin miner. Blythwood (talk) 18:41, 29 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
