Interview[edit]

This is your last warning Authority. The next time you delete or blank page contents or templates from Wikipedia, as you did to Rich_Fields, you will be blocked from editing.

User, Authority seems to have a problem with the interview that was recently added, do you really need to keep screwing around with the links? We proved to you that it fits the guidelines of wikipedia as it clearly states on the Wikipedia:External_Links page that links to interviews and rich media ARE acceptable. Please stop acting like a little child and stop editing the page to how you like it. Secretly editing the link so that it faults is completely unacceptable, especially for a thirty-year old gameshow worker such as yourself. I would think you would like to promote interviews of your fellow co-workers, but I guess not. Motoipod 00:59, 3 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

New article[edit]

It looks like Rich Fields/Temp was also a copyvio. I've written a short, original article at Rich Fields/Temp/Temp. --Iowahwyman 01:45, 14 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Criticism[edit]

This is not violating the NPOV policy. Please do not revert it or delete it. This article already is written "veteran broadcaster" Rich Fields.

And directly from the NPOV article: "The notion of "unbiased writing" that informs Wikipedia's policy is "presenting conflicting views without asserting them"."

NPOV violations :

"and had a long career as a succesful"

"Fields is a well-known voice-over talent and has done hundreds"

So just because I list some critiscms allows some of these statements to fly, apparently.

--CFIF 11:52, 27 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

March 2006 - The constant editing of "critiscms" by user CFIF on the front page seems to be nothing more than a personal and negatively biased opinon of the user. It has no place in a "factual" Encyclopedia type forum like Wikipedia. USER: BIZZREP

Well, you can take this up with higher authority here if you really want to get it removed. --CFIF (talk to me) 20:17, 3 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Good Idea. Thanks for the advice.--User:BIZZREP 10:29, 3 April 2006

Will you stop removing it until we can get a decision on this? --CFIF (talk to me) 19:16, 4 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Your criticisms section is completely unsourced and uses many Weasel words. Please look at Verifiability, find some sources for your criticisms, and if you can't find any sources then the criticisms will have to stay out, per Wikipedia policy. Mak (talk) 21:44, 7 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • The criticism is unsourced, unless you can find a reputable source that states the same, the criticism has to go. Eivindt@c 07:11, 8 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Again I have had to edit back in "factual" info that is being removed by user CFIF on this site. The changes I made are verifiable facts regarding Rich Fields, as well the deletion of false information on the High Five Challenge. Please make sure you know your facts before removing or adding info to this site. If you persist in your attempts to defame this site, I will wage a complaint against you as a biased user to the authority here. ---User:Bizzrep 9:30, 9 April 2006 (UTC)

How is getting rid of POV words like "successful" and "long" getting rid of "factual info." Rich Fields' website is not a verifiable source of info. It's all self promotional. --CFIF (talk to me) 11:06, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Having a proven "26 year run" in both television and radio broadcasting certainly does constitute the use of the words "long career", as well as becoming the announcer on the number one rated television game show, should constitute the use of the word "successful", by anyone's POV!!!! How can you discount the fact that he has made a "success" in his chosen career, just because you have a personal bias against Mr. Fields. AGAIN I STATE.. this is a factual information site, please treat it as so, and keep your personal opinions out!

---User:Bizzrep 11:08, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's still POV, and who are you (a newbie) to tell me "I'm defaming the site". --CFIF (talk to me) 19:30, 11 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

-- Your aggression towards me is unnecessary. What does the fact that I am new, have to do with the facts? Perhaps it is "you" who needs to re-read the POV for this site. (general POV)Since its already been decided once that your personal and "biased" criticisms be removed, I suppose I need another 3rd party opinion. Bizzrep 06:50, 12 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, Rod Roddy began announcing TPIR in 1986, not 1985. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.228.70.72 (talk) 23:38, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Succession boxes[edit]

I partially restored the succession box for the announcer of The Price Is Right. Rod Roddy was Rich's predecessor and that should be credited. However, "TBA" and "Rotating Guest Announcers" are not people, so there's no need to list them in the "after" category. It is not yet publicly known whether one of the rotating guests will be chosen as a permanent announcer. With respect to the Wheel of Fortune box, there is no previous "Rotating Guest Announcer of Wheel of Fortune," nor do we know that there will be another one in the future. There's absolutely no need for a "succession box" when there's neither a predecessor nor a successor. JTRH (talk) 20:42, 5 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

While I certainly agree with your assessment for Rich's appearances on Wheel of Fortune, I don't agree with it in regards to Price is Right. The show has very clearly announced in a press release that they're going to have "rotating guest announcers," not to mention Mike Richards' comments in a video on the show's official website that these rotating announcers, "strengthens the brand." They have made no indication that a replacement for Rich will be sought, as I'm pretty sure the show did after Rod Roddy and Johnny Olson died.
Additionally, it is just bad style not to have an "after" box... it looks very awkward on the page. --Mr. Brown (talk) 16:48, 6 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough. JTRH (talk) 17:35, 6 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

His status on Wheel of Fortune[edit]

The only source that Rich will be on Wheel is Pat Sajak's tweet describing him as "guest announcer." It's not clear how long this will last, though it would seem to be two weeks of shows (two taping days). There's no source stating there will be "rotating guest announcers" in addition to Fields and Gilbert. One of them may be chosen as the permanent announcer, or someone else may be, or they may keep using substitutes for the foreseeable future. The point is that no one knows yet. If the show has made a decision, it's not public and therefore not verifiable. It's premature, inaccurate and unnecessary to construct a succession box with all of the rest of this information in it. All we know is that he's subbing on Wheel for a couple of weeks. JTRH (talk) 00:01, 8 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Right. The "office" is vacant and they are presumably looking for a new announcer. Unlike the situation on Price is Right, Wheel has not sent out any pressers pushing the "guest announcers," or stating an intention to have rotating announcers. It's just like Charlie is sick and folks are subbing for him... except he's dead. --Mr. Brown (talk) 03:43, 9 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Pat's Website says that Johnny will be subbing "for a few weeks until we name a replacement." That apparently predates the tweet that Rich will be involved as well. But at the moment, the job is empty. JTRH (talk) 04:03, 9 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article states that Rich Fields died October 14, 2023. I am unable to find any evidence of this. 2605:A601:AF5B:A700:88BE:89A7:C3BF:48DC (talk) 06:42, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
