Hello Livajo/Talk archive and welcome to Wikipedia! Hope you like it here, and stick around.

Here are some tips to help you get started:

Good luck!

Moving Eocene to Eocene Epoch etc[edit]

You have all the epochs to do in the Cretaceous after you've finished cleaning up all the double links you've created with this move. Don't lose any Discussion text. Should keep you out of trouble for days and days. Wetman 23:51, 12 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Swahili[edit]

Thanks for the edit at the Kiswahili page. I was in despair. Quill 00:19, 19 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Nardwuar[edit]

Concerning the article you deleted: this was no wanton act of "testing" (vandalism) on my part. "Do do do do do", for your general information, is the phrase Nardwuar the Human Serviette is best known for. In the absense of an article, I thought I'd add this phrase in hopes of instigating one of our Canadian Wikipedians into writing a full article.

By and by, the most common response to his phraselette is: "do do", though you may chase him around, beat him, and steal his property. The Human Serviette, Ladies and Gentlemen!

Thanks!![edit]

thanks for putting the accent on Les Lavendieres! I don't have a clue how to do it! Selphie 09:26, 25 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Au Sable[edit]

Please do not cut and paste to move an article. Use the move tab at the top of your page. This moves the edit history along with the article. olderwiser 01:50, 26 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Oh, and when you move a page, you need to check the "What links here" and update links as needed. All the links to Au Sable River should be updated to link directly to Au Sable River (Michigan). olderwiser 01:58, 26 Aug 2004 (UTC)
Right. Will remember to do so in the future (still learning the ins and outs of Wikipedia; please bear with me). Livajo 01:59, 26 Aug 2004 (UTC)
No problem. Didn't mean to sound scolding. I tend to be terse at times. olderwiser 02:01, 26 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Dear Livajo, I have a favour to ask you. Could you save and send me from your cache mem the page taxoboxing, becasue it was soon removed by a trigger happy big brother. and though I am not going to use it there again (probably was considered vandalism), i would like to keep as a memento. thanks apogr info@apogr.hu

I can see why the article was deleted, as it did get rather POV after a few edits (i.e. referring to taxoboxing as a process of "censoring" without note that that is only one opinion), and I'm sorry but my browser is not set to keep a cache of visited pages. Livajo 14:40, 26 Aug 2004 (UTC)

thank you all the same. Apogr 16:12, 26 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Woodstock vandal[edit]

Thank you. Livajo 19:35, 27 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Thanks for the tip re. the notenglish tag. --LeeHunter 21:45, 27 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Krleza[edit]

Why exactly did you move Miroslav Krleza? It's customary for the non-native diacritics to be skipped in page titles on the English Wikipedia. --Joy [shallot] 21:53, 27 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Well, I neglected to mention that this was about the diacritic letters used in Croatian: š, đ, č, ć and ž (and their uppercase versions). All of the above that you named are Latin1-based characters, whereas most of ours aren't in that character set and have to be represented by numbered entities (Unicode), and they don't display nicely by default.
I pondered perhaps you did this because the English Wikipedia had been converted to UTF-8, but in this case it seems it's just because š and ž aren't required to be displayed with entities (presumably because they're in the same position in both Latin1 and Latin2, and thus in numbered HTML entities).
It's nice to be able to put Krleža's (or Žganec's) name just like it is in the original, but I think that things should be consistent regardless of these technical differences, it's not nice to discriminate against only certain semi-random names with certain diacritical characters... --Joy [shallot] 10:12, 28 Aug 2004 (UTC)
You do have a point about consistency. It doesn't really matter in Krleža's name, but it wouldn't really work if applied to all Croatian (or Czech, Slovenian, Latvian etc.) names. I wonder when (or if) the English Wikipedia will ever switch over to Unicode. It makes things much easier, in my opinion. Livajo 12:38, 29 Aug 2004 (UTC)
I agree. Anyhow, each name will continue have a version without the diacritics, redirect or not. After the eventual UTF-8 conversion, we'll still keep the redirects so that searching is more straightforward. --Joy [shallot] 15:34, 29 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Thanks for reversion[edit]

I had just posted to mathkight for assistance. Please, how does one perform a reversion? If I show the earlier article, then edit (so I can copy and paste) I don't get the old article, but the new vandalized one. Answer here, I will watch. Thanks, Leonard G. 00:59, 9 Sep 2004 (UTC)

There's more information about page reversion than you will likely need at Wikipedia:How to revert a page to an earlier version. Always glad to help. Livajo 01:01, 9 Sep 2004 (UTC)

De-hyphenation[edit]

Thanks for catching the bad hyphen in Biped! I'm a stickler for intelligent use of hyphens, and was ready to swoop down and restore the hyphen that some obvious ignoramus had mentioned in their edit summary, but damn, it was an unnecessary hyphen (and IMO a member of a category of hyphen usages that are forbidden in all but the most confusing syntxes, which should probably just be re-written rather than patched with post-adverbial hyphens).

Good to know i have a hyphen ally out there. [smile]

Pranic Heaing[edit]

Why has this page been removed? I am just diffusing teachings from a great Master. The lines I inserted are taken from Master Choa Kok Sui's book "Miracles with pranic healing". The website whose copyright you claim I infringed, is just using the same text from the same book.

Tightlacing[edit]

Hello! I noticed your involvement in the edit skirmish at Tightlacing. I've suggested that we try to resolve things on the talk page. I've posted myself, and I've invited Zora and Haabet to join in, and I thought you might be interested to know.
