So first the nicknames, now the birthplaces?[edit]

So the nicknames are exiled from the infobox and the birthplaces are confined to it. Okay, makes enough sense and simplifies things, if you don't count having to go through all the articles to take it out...but where'd the consensus on doing away with birthplaces come from?

And should something be included about MAF's girlfriend, or is she not "official" enough? They've only been together since they were, like, 14...

ConkblockCity (talk) 17:52, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's been in the manual of style for a long time. It's just that nobody reads it. Basically, birthplaces really clutter the opening sentence. I'm always wary about listing girlfriends, but if you can find a source saying they've been together since 14, then go ahead and toss it in.-Wafulz (talk) 17:57, 22 August 2008 (UTC
I think the problem is, people read WP:HOCKEY/PPF instead. I did. ConkblockCity (talk) 18:22, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
re:Véronique, you've already got your source Scroll down... Okay, 16, but "linked much longer". And in the French translation of his CB jersey retirement, she's "sa compagne de vie" which I do believe is a bit more serious than just "his girlfriend". Subsections[edit]

Does anyone else object to the playing career section being subdivided for every season Fleury has played? It seems very excessive and I was just gonna go ahead and remove them, but I wanted to see if anyone disagreed first. Orlandkurtenbach (talk) 06:08, 17 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Secret Service Save[edit]

I corrected the part on the 2009 Stanley Cup Finals where it said Rafalski's shot was saved, even though it was Henrik Zetterberg's from the circle. In doing so, the wonderful people at wiki decided to delete the wonderful bit about how this save is legendary and now referred to as the "Secret Service Save." The tidbit about this save was already saved on the site. I didn't edit that part at all. However, they have now removed it. I petition to have that awesome tidbit, that all NHL readers would find interesting, reinstated immediately. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.87.13.9

(1) Tidbits of information would qualify as trivia. (2) Provide a reference and I will not remove it. Things are supposed to be cited. --Spidey104contribs 21:06, 27 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

So why had that tidbit been on this site for almost one year? It was only removed after I corrected the part preceding it. It makes absolutely no sense, unless someone there didn't originally do their job properly by allowing it to pass through. Do you understand what I am saying? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.87.13.9

Someone before didn't do their job properly by allowing it to pass through.
No one has ever said that Wikipedia articles are perfect as is; that's why they are edited every day. Mistakes happen and are corrected when found. I did not remove this to anger you, so I apologize for any undue distress. However, if you can find a legitimate reference for the name then it can be included here and in the 2009 Stanley Cup Finals article. --Spidey104contribs 23:00, 1 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fleury's nickname on the team is the flower. He is called this because of one of his best saves when he lays down flat on the ice to stop and save the puck. ~LETS~GO~PENS~ (talk) 22:44, 22 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. Can you provide any evidence that this is a widespread nickname? Altamel (talk) 04:39, 23 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

All references to Marc-Andre Fleury's current team should be changed from Chicago Blackhawks to Minnesota Wild. CBS sports has confirmed the trade, and the Minnesota Wild's official twitter has announced the trade. 128.62.48.73 (talk) 17:09, 21 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It appears this is already done. RudolfRed (talk) 03:36, 22 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
